Davison County Emergency Management assists citizens in need, from a minor incident such as a fuel spill up to a catastrophic disaster. Educating the public through awareness is key, such as severe weather awareness training, testing outdoor warning sirens, and local tornado and fire drills.
Emergency Management organizes the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). The main purpose of the LEPC is to bring representatives together from various government, private, and non-profit agencies on a monthly basis; in an effort to address possible emergency situations. It is also an opportunity to form professional relationships among agencies to increase cooperation, coordination, and interactions that will be necessary during major incidents.

The City of Sioux Falls does not have any community/public storm shelters. Those who do not have basements are advised to plan ahead to find appropriate safe locations. Once a warning has been issued, it is better to shelter in place. Take shelter at the lowest level possible, in the smallest, innermost room.

The City of Sioux Falls does not have any community/public storm shelters. Those who do not have basements are advised to plan ahead to find appropriate safe locations. Once a warning has been issued, it is better to shelter in place. Take shelter at the lowest level possible, in the smallest, innermost room.
