Existing SDCF grant opportunities: South Dakota Fund Grants - unrestricted fund that makes grants in support of economic development, human services, health, education, culture and financial literacy programs. Beyond Idea Grants - offered in partnership with the Bush Foundation, these grants are designed to support community-based problem solving in South Dakota Local CSA Grants - A CSA (community savings account) allows a community to invest and grow its endowment with the help of the SDCF. Nonprofit Savings Account - Partners with organizations to build endowment funds. Fairy Godmother's Fund - The fund helps women in South Dakota address immediate, short-term, critical needs. No self-referrals. Bush Prize: South Dakota - offered in partnership with the Bush Foundation, the Bush Prize award celebrates organizations that are highly valued within their communities and have a track record of successful community problem solving. Bush Prize grants are flexible and can be used to build up reserves, test that next big idea or whatever else would best support the organization's ongoing good work. The grant amounts are up to 25% of an organization's most recent fiscal year expenses, with a maximum of $500,000. In partnership with the US Small Business Administration, Dakota Business Finance provides financing for a wide range of businesses through the SBA 504 Loan Program. The program provides fixed rate financing at below market rates for the purchase of long-term assets such as the purchase of land, purchase and construction of buildings, renovating or remodeling existing facilities, and/or purchase of long-term machinery and equipment.
Farm Service Agency (FSA) handles many federal farm programs and makes agricultural and commodity loans. FSA provides financial assistance to producers who have suffered from natural disasters. Disaster assistance is available for a wide variety of disaster event, including but not limited to flooding, winter storms, drought, tornado, fire and other natural disasters that have adversely impacted producers. FSA disaster assistance encompasses livestock death losses, damaged or destroyed feed supplies, crop production losses, loss of grazing land, farmland rehabilitation, restoring water supplies, emergency loans and other disaster aid. The South Eastern Development Foundation's Revolving Loan Fund has two components: the Housing Revolving Loan Fund and the Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund. The Housing Revolving Loan Fund provides construction financing to individuals, and for-profit and non-profit developers to construct a Governor's House. SEDF also partners with USDA Rural Development's on its 502 Home Loan Program. The purpose of this loan program is to provide financing at reasonable rates and terms with no down payment required, to low and very low income families that are unable to obtain conventional financing. This program is not available within the city limits of Sioux Falls. The Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund provides loans to individuals and businesses to start-up or expand a business. This program works in conjunction with local lending institutions.
