The W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds is available as a venue to host year round events that are both public and/or private. The Sioux Empire Fair Association is the organizing association of the Sioux Empire Fair and Bulls & Broncs. Many other events such as rodeos, live stock shows and sales, flea markets, motor cross events, dog shows, and concert venue.

Host to The Black Hills Stock Show (January 31 - February 8, 2025) and The Central States Fair (August 15 - 23, 2025). The Fairgrounds offers year round rental facilities for wedding receptions, meeting rooms, large events, camping, and horse boarding.

The SD State Fairgrounds encompasses 190 acres and 90 plus buildings and is available for rent for a variety of special events throughout the year. The fairgrounds is home to the South Dakota State Fair which takes place annually always ending on Labor Day. The fair is a showcase for agriculture and 4-H featuring educational exhibits, livestock shows, live entertainment, carnival, food and fun. The fairgrounds also plays host to several annual events including the Wheel Jam, the SD BBQ Championships, livestock events, and horse events.
