The Human Resources Department serves the County in three broad functional areas: Direct support to the County Commission and recruitment of new employees. Personnel support services to employees. Support services to departments. Support to the County Commission involves such activities as ongoing maintenance of the classification system and pay scale, position control, reduction of potential EEO and affirmative action liabilities, research and recommendations regarding issues that affect personnel, and maintaining comprehensive personnel records. Support services to employees include administration of benefits such as the group health and dental plan, retirement and deferred compensation, and worker's compensation. Support services to departments include centralized employee record keeping, recruitment and selection support, new employee orientation, assistance with progressive discipline, employee coaching and training.
