Crazy Horse Memorial, home of the world's largest mountain sculpture in progress, is in the Black Hills of South Dakota on U.S. Highway 16/385 just 17 miles southwest of Mount Rushmore. The Memorial started June 3, 1948 to honor the heritage, traditions and living cultures of American Indian people of North America. Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation is the governing body that oversees this non profit humanitarian project.
