Advises the City Manager, City Council, and City personnel on all legal matters affecting the city. The city attorney prosecutes and defends lawsuits in which the City of Watertown is a party, and serves as the city's prosecutor for violations of city ordinances. The city attorney is prohibited from providing legal advice to the public or to any party other than the client, the municipal corporation of the City of Watertown.
